Our honeymoon was different from other honeymoons and so much fun! Taylor tried to keep it a secret from me for so long where we would be going and he did for a long time, but then one of our friends accidently told me. But I was super excited to find out that we would be going to Lake Seminole, Sonoma Valley, Napa Valley, and San Francisco.
I have been to San Francisco before, three times actually. I went to visit my best friend Annie who moved there when we were in 8th grade. But I had NEVER seen the city like this...a much different experience!
The day after the wedding we had a few stops to make before we got out of town. Tay bought me a shatter proof, shock proof, crush proof, and water proof camera as part of my wedding gift. I guess you can see that I am not super good to my electronics. So we had to go buy that, get gas and get out of town!
First stop - Lake Seminole:
My family has a cabin on Lake Seminole that we go to frequently because its our "get-a-way place". Taylor and I both agreed that we didnt want to fly out the day after the wedding. We wanted some time to rest and relax. Thats exactly what we did. Taylor said "i have never seen you sleep this much in your life"! Usually I do not sit down and do not nap, but I am SO glad we took those two days to do just that. I recommend it for anyone that gets married, just to take 2 days to yourself before flying out on a big honeymoon!
Here are some pictures from Lake Seminole:
On the way to the lake, I was playing with the settings on my camera. Here is my ring with the bands on it :) LOVE it and am so thankful!
SO sleepy and ready to relax!
When we got there, mom had left us some treats!
Coking dinner for Taylor and talking to mom letting her know we made it safe!
My paradise!
Tay on the boat the next day!
Lunch~!
We went to dinner at the Melting Pot, which is where we had one of our first dates so it was special!
The next day we left for the plane! Taylor hasnt ridden in a plane in a long time so we were excited! We got to the airport entirely too early and had to wait and wait and wait to get on the plane. Here are some pictures of that!
on the way to the airport
in the air port before breakfast!
on the plane
tay insisted on taking pictures of me in the airport, kind of embarassing!
SAN FRANCISCO!
they had these awesome tvs that you could watch any tv show that you wanted or rent a movie! so much better than having to watch one movie per plane and hoping its something worth watching!
view from the plane!
driving to Sonoma from San Francisco!
our room in Sonoma! it was gorgeous and I was very surprised at how nice it was!
fire place and tv that we LOVED
Every morning we got whatever we wanted for room service for FREE as part of the package Tay got us! We ate breakfast by the fire every day! LOVED IT!
Next, we were on to my personal FAVORITE part of the trip! Tay loved it too! We did a segway tour through Sonoma Valley and went to a few vineyards. Lastly, the tour guide took us to a cheese factory and we did a cheese tasting. If you dont already know, cheese is my absolute favorite, and I LOVED it!
at the hotel, there were beautiful fountains everywhere!
taylor hiding from me behind a tree! it was super cold this day!
We were the only two that signed up for the tour that day (maybe because it was a random Wednesday). We LOVED our tour guide. He and Tay had so much in common (restaurant businesses) and he was so nice. He ended up saying that if we came to his restaurant he would put free drinks on the board for us. We were curious about what this "board" was. So we went and sure enough, he had our names and it said Happy Honeymoon on it! We felt really special and that was fun memory!
LOOK ma! No hands! I was really scared at first about the segways. Of course Tay wasnt and caught on in like 10 seconds. After 30 minutes or so, I got the hang of it and I was so proud of myself :)
A picture of us in action!
On to the cheese factory for a tasting! Did you know that they dip cheese in chocolate to age the cheese. That is chocolate around the cheese that taylor is holding!
5 year old cheese!
our tasting! OH MY this cheese was amazing! my new favorite is aged gouda! Try it! it has little crystals in it that crunch in your mouth!
Tay in front of the Vella Cheese Co!
After we finished our tour, Tay wanted to ride around and just see what we could find. We had a while to go before dinner so we wandered upon a very old grave yard. Kinda creepy but the graves were so old and it was really neat to see.
We found a place at the top of the mountain where you could look down and see the whole town of Sonoma. In the background on a not so cloudy day they say you can see the San Francisco bridge!
We were very tired from that day so we just ordered take out and watched movies in the room that night. The next day it was rainy so we went on a tour of Napa, guided by Taylor. Napa Valley is shaped like a long oval with two main highways that ride down each side of it. We took one highway up and the other one back down. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of wineries that you can stop at and tour. We went to a few that we had been told to visit and a few that just looked cool. Here are a few pictures from this day:
This was breakfast on the morning of our wine tour
Me at one of the wineries
Tasting at Mumm Napa!
A HUGE pumpkin!
The last morning in Napa we ate breakfast and headed to San Fran. I really miss that breakfast!!
We checked into our hotel and before we got there, Tay said "now please dont be disappointed...This hotel is not as near as nice as the other one. I was expecting a roach motel after that. NO! He did amazing! The hotel was right on the warf and you could see Alkatraz from our window, PLUS it had a cute little nautical theme and was huge. Also, the hotel had free hot chocolate every day and that was neat to me! Here is a picture of what the hotel looked like:
Tay wanted to go to China town first to see it and to eat some good Chinese food. We ate at the top of a building and so we could see lots below.
After lunch, we went to ride the Trolleys! That was so much fun and is something I had never done before! Then it started raining and got to be terrible weather but that didnt stop us. We bought $5 umbrellas and walked in the rain to Fisherman's Warf and had dinner at this fabulous sea food restaurant for dinner. It was so much fun and we enjoyed dinner! Here are some pics:
Tay being silly as usual!
After dinner we went to a random restaurant for dessert. We soon learned that this restaurant was 4th generation owners and that it was famous! We ended up meeting the chef and he bought us a round of drinks for our Honeymoon! I swear Tay could make friends with a tree if he had to!
The next day we went to Pier 39 which is the most famous pier. There are tons of shops, so we shopped, ate lunch, and had fun! After that we went on a Go Car ride through the city. It was really cold but SO much fun! The cars had GPS Systems in them and would tell you "hey that building on the left was ________...." and would give you stories. It also told you where to turn and how to stay on course. One of the best experiences of the honeymoon and I am so glad we did it!
Later that day, Annie met up with us. YES, Annie met up with us on our HONEYMOON! People think that is crazy for some reason. Hey, we had been together for 9 days at this point! Plus she knows the city alot better than we do so it was fun to see her and hang out :) Shes basically Tay's other wifey anyway!
Well, thats the end of the honeymoon! It was so much fun and we didnt want to come home!
